It’s hard to believe that a song could bring so much attention to one area, but that’s what Michel Sardou has done with "Les Lacs du Connemara". A French staple in music for weddings and parties, it’s given a huge spotlight to this small but beautiful area, with groups of French flocking here every year. When I ask why Connemara, the first thing they usually say is, "Do you know the song 'Les Lacs du Connemara'?" It is, of course, not the only reason, though, as there is so much wild rugged beauty in the area and some of the best pubs, with Irish music, great craic, pints of Guinness aplenty, and some of the freshest seafood on the planet available in Connemara. What’s not to love!
