Our Story

Roundstone Bay and Island is a lifestyle business run by myself, Damien O'Malley, a fourth-generation fisherman who has been around the sea all my life. I run bespoke and tailor-made tours showing off everything that is on our doorstep. I have a huge grá for the Connemara region, knowing the best spots to bring people for their own interests. As no tour is the same, I run through with each group on the day what they would like to do and I do my best to make it happen. Some groups like to relax on the stunning sandbar beach on the deserted island of Inishlacken while having a lobster lunch. Other groups like to cut along the coastline, watching out for wildlife and keeping an eye out for the resident seals. A big hit with families is pulling up lobster pots, and there is usually excitement to see what we catch. Others like to mix it up and try to do everything. We do our best!

Roundstone, or Cloch na Rón as it is known in Irish, which means rock of the seals, is a pretty fishing village in Connemara located along the Wild Atlantic Way. It is steeped in history and was founded by the Scottish engineer Alexander Nimmo, who built harbours all along the west coast of Ireland, many of which are still in use today and can be seen along the tour.
